2013 – 2015

The project "Rinkejo Puslapis" - Voters Portal was very special to me as it was a new portal dedicated to all Lithuanian voters (~ 2551516 voters). In addition, the customer was very interested in making the portal attractive, convenient, and user-friendly.

I was involved in the project from the start as a User Experience Analyst. My work included User-Centered Design Process implementation, UX strategy and stakeholder alignment, vision development, communication management, customer needs analysis, interviews & workshops with the client, user research and analysis (target groups, user interviews, personas, tasks, scenarios), usability testing, and improvement suggestions. The prototype and UI design were created by another UX/UI designer and analyst. Read more about that.

Planning the User-Centered Design Process

One of the things that I really love doing is telling a story in presentations.

My goal was not just to create a nice looking design, but to tell a story and communicate key messages. I wanted to represent Iterato's unique character, values, the value that they create, their people and strengths. In addition, we did some marketing work to define it. The design was created using the main brand colours and font, keeping consistency with their current website.

Pictures were selected to represent the company's brand. The presentation consists of a set of slides telling about the company's purpose, services, work process, people, values, customers and implemented projects. Some slides have several versions, to be modified according to exact Iterato needs. All slide texts are editable in MS PowerPoint.

UX Strategy: Stakeholder Alignment and Vision

I conducted stakeholder interviews to learn how each stakeholder understands the project, and what their business objectives, expectations, and vision for the project are.

I developed a questionnaire, conducted interviews, prepared a summary, organized and facilitated workshops of all stakeholders, in order to define the common vision of the Portal, its mission, discuss possibilities, limitations and the psychological meaning for the users — voters and candidates. This strategic alignment work formed the foundation for further UX decisions.

User-Centered Analysis & Research

I conducted a user-centred analysis and user research to learn about users — voters and candidates — and their needs.

I analysed secondary data, selected research methodologies, developed a user questionnaire, split users into target groups, conducted individual one-on-one interviews for each target group, analysed and summarised data, created personas, tasks, and scenarios. This contributed to a better understanding of the users, user needs, and goals using the Voters Portal.

Usability Testing and Improvements Report

I planned and conducted usability testing of the interactive prototype of the portal with all target groups of voters in order to test and evaluate the design and define improvements needed in the early stage of the project. The goal of testing the prototype was to test the structure of the portal and get feedback on the design.

Testing with users was conducted in person with the participant, by the facilitator and observer. I introduced the testing team members to the key principles of usability testing, worked with the team members to develop a task list, organised usability testing, moderated and facilitated part of the usability tests, reviewed and finalised the reports and suggested improvements needed. I conducted testing with users before the launch of the portal as well.

"I met Monika while working on the project for election participants “Voters Portal” (https://www.rinkejopuslapis.lt/). The Voters Portal is an information and e-services portal for voters, candidates and election organisers.

The project was developed using a user-centred design process, including stakeholder interviews, vision workshops to create one common vision of the project, user research with different target groups of users, system prototype testing with users before the start of programming work, and later before the launch of the project. The process made it easier to manage how the Portal was being developed, make improvements earlier, and to take the necessary decisions on time.

I enjoyed working together with Monika as she combined both UX competences and communication experience and contributed a lot to integrating modern practices into the project.”
